Democratic National Committee v. The Russian Federation

April 20th 2018, the DNC filed an extensive RICO civil action in the Southern District of NY, against the Russian Federation and it seems to include just about everyone else on the planet.  (New case number assigned 1:2018cv03501)

That case now has 183 filings in 4 months, some of which are multiple headings and it remains a hodge podge of bits and pieces that will probably go on for many years.  The lawyers for the DNC made many mistakes and false starts in their various filings and they have been repremanded by the Judge many times.

First off the bat are 7 more current items just by way of example of what you might find if you wanted to spend 10 cents a page to look at the case.

The DNC is involved in 183 cases, some where they are sued, some like this one, where they sue.  This just goes back to 1992 when PACER came online.  Probably 8-10% of these cases are still active.

The first 4 pages are just the most current filings.

The next 2 pages are in reference to a gad fly who has filed 30 or so briefs as a 'friend of the court'.  So many in fact that the judge had told him repeatedly to knock it off as he had no status for such filings.  The 2 page order by Judge Koeltl instructs the clerk to not accept any additional filings from David A. Christenson.

The final 'new' item is just an example of how the suit has expanded, not just to many Russians and probably everyone ever associated with the Trump organization but it also involves Wiki Leaks and Julian Assange.

He was served by leaving a set of documents at the front desk of the Ecuadorian Emgassy in London and also mailing a set.

If you want to send him a Christmas card you can reach him at Julian Assange, Ecuadorian Embassy, Flat 3b, 3 Hans Crescent, London, SW1X 0LS UK.

Democratic National Committee v. The Russian Federation et al

In the first 5 pages of the 'Case Summary' you will notice some Filing Errors.  Seems that DNC attorney Eisenkraft is taken to task for his 'deficient filing'.

As far as I can see the case title should be:  DNC vs Everybody Else.

I had to chuckle a bit over page 32 (36 if you go by headings at top of page).  Here it is FYI-

N.  Trump - and Russia - Win

On November 8, 2016, Trump won the election to become President of the United States.

In Moscow, the reaction was jubilation.  When the news of Trump's victory broke in the Duma (Russia's parliament), legislators burst into applause, and the  announcement by Vyacheslav Nikomov, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, was almost drowned out by clapping and cheering.  Nikonov stated:  "Three minutes ago Hillary Clinton acknowledged her defeat in the US presidential elections and just seconds ago, Trump began his speech as president-elect.  I congratulate you all on this."

I understand that the DNC is already $6,000,000 in the hole.  Even Democratic commentators comment that this is more about getting contributions than being a 'real' civil suit.

Probably it will end up tossed out of court.

Below is the main part of the filing by the DNC, the footnotes go on for a few additional pages but are not incorporated in this blog.
